We visited sugar and scribe for brunch on a beautiful sunny weekend. Garden themed outdoor space was shady and inviting and we started with a delicious iced Viennese coffee drink. Next up was a generous portion of their tasty butter poached lobster Benedict with crispy potatoes & a delicate rosemary hollandaise. The menu has so many delish choices it's hard to choose between savory or sweet. The salads & Sammie's also sounded creative. We stopped inside to visit their to go bakery and store items and we took home a couple of their absolutely delicious cookies. The million dollar cookie and the peanut butter cookie were fabulous! We also tried a couple of their Liber & Co syrups ( strawberry) that we have later used for cocktails, and they were delicious as well. We will be back!

The food was absolutely on point. I got the truffle mushroom toast, it's an absolute yes from me. Also got a side of pancakes and they were so beautiful and delicious. Loved the marshmallow latte. Service was good, no complaints it's just a very busy place so you have to be ok with waiting for a table. Came her for a girls brunch and it was really screaming cute girl vibes, with flower decor everywhere on the patio we were sitting on.

This place is a solid brunch spot in La Jolla. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes before opening to find parking, as it can be tough on the weekends. I love the aesthetic--it's a cute spot for brunch with friends or family. Their specialties are pancakes and coffee drinks. We ordered lemon blueberry pancakes, shrimp and grits, Irish sausage roll with egg, and mushroom toast. My favorite was the pancakes--they weren't overly sweet but had just the right amount of sweetness from fresh fruit and syrup. Our waiter was friendly and gave great recommendations. Our food came out in just 10 minutes after we sat down, which was a plus even when the restaurant was packed full of people. I also love that they have some good selections for delicious sweets, cookies and tea so you can browse and shop after you finish your meal. I'd definitely bring more people here for brunch next time.

Sugar and Scribe is the most aesthetically pleasing brunch spot I have ever had the honor of dining at! Flower wallpaper coupled with pops of pink and foliage lighten the mood and make you feel removed from the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood. We ordered the crab cake benedict, shrimp and grits, and a mango lemonade. Pleasantly surprised at how it came out a short 10 minutes after ordering. Everything was so good, and the portions were just right! To top it off, our server was very attentive and checked in on us every 5-7 minutes. The inside of the restaurant is only for to-go orders and shopping around their little cafe. I would most definitely recommend this spot for a place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee and people watch, or to have brunch.

Went on a solo brunch date and had the best time! This cafe is so cute and I love that it has a bakery inside. My waiter was so friendly and recommended the chilaquiles which were delicious. I also ordered an iced vanilla oat milk latte which was very yummy. Before heading home, I stopped in the bakery and took a raspberry croissant home. It was the prettiest croissant I've ever seen!

Long wait but worth it. Foods were above average but they took a while to come to our table. Cute interior decor!

A fantastic brunch choice in La Jolla! It can be quite busy during the weekends, we came around 11:30am on a Saturday, and our wait time was 35 minutes. My friends and I were able to walk along the area to make the time pass by. They have tons of outdoor seating, and we were expecting sunny weather but definitely got some marine layer gloom that day. The place is very nicely decorated with lots of florals, and they had very cute dishware, overall it is quite aesthetic! They have a ton of classic brunch dishes like pancakes, benedicts, skillets, and scrambles - so many of them looked like they had unique flavors. I ordered the Spicy Crispy Clucker Benedict because it sounded like a creative benedict dish, and it was excellent! The fried chicken and the chipotle hollandaise had great flavor. The english muffin was surprisingly soft. I ordered potatoes alongside with it, which are not like traditional breakfast potatoes, but soft scalloped potatoes. My friends got the Southern Love (really yummy cheesy grits and large shrimp!) and Kensington Benedict (a more fresh benedict with smoked salmon). Overall we all enjoyed our dishes! We were also eyeing the Naughty Skillet - so we'll have to try that next time!

Pretty darn good. I'd feel confident bringing someone here.* All the food was excellent. Their outdoor patio is quite lovely. *The service left a lot to be desired. Our server didn't check in on us so it was difficult to get more water, takeaway boxes, a plate, etc. If it weren't for how much we liked the food I'd give them a lower rating.

We have dined at Sugar & Scribe twice is the last few months, and it was well worth the drive down (from Ontario) here both times! For both visits, we were seated in their outdoor patio adjacent to the parking lot. The decor was elegant with faux flowers and vines hanging above to make it feel like you're dining in a garden. On our first visit on April 20th, 2024, we waited about 30 minutes for a table for our party of 3. I ordered the corned beef skillet and my wife ordered the buttered lobster benedict. On our second visit on June 23, 2024, we waited only 15 minutes for a table for our party of 4 plus two doggies. I went with the same corned beef hash (since it was amazing), and my wife ordered the spicy chilaquiles with grilled shrimp. For both visits, the food was amazing and the service was excellent. We will define back again in the near future!

QUICKIE REVIEW Get here early to get access to everything. FOOD This is what I tried: -Regular benedict with bacon -Kensington Benedict Of the two benedicts, have to love the flavor smokiness of the salmon brings. Mix it with a bit of everything and it's a nice treat. That is not to say the regular benedict wasn't welcomed. There's bacon in it, need I say more? Potatoes that come with the meals are ok. Add a little salt and pepper to kick it up a notch. PARKING Street parking. SERVICE Waiter was being over ran this particular Sunday. That man was virtually running non stop. PRICE Expect to pay around $60 for two. TIP/OTHER THOUGHTS Showed up here around 10 on Sunday and there was roughly an hour-long line. Went to see the bakery inside and almost all the goods were sold out. Would love to come here again but earlier so I am able to try a bit of everything they have to offer. Ambiance wise, the layout, utensils and plate were all cool. Felt upscale even though we were eating outside in a tent.
